Writing Quote for the Week

Note: Harper Lee is the author of the masterpiece novel To Kill a Mockingbird. I love this quote to the extent that Miss Lee promotes books and reading, but we here at Darla Writes know that technology can be a writer’s friend.

Still, Miss Lee has earned a pass from me to say whatever she wants when it comes to books. Her one and only novel is my favorite.

  1. While I love my Kindle and find I take it everywhere, there are times when I still prefer the feel and smell of a book. It’s like coming home… the familiar.

    1. And you can pass them on to friends and family. Or buy them in a used bookstore where you might find (like I did) a book with a loving note from a mother to her son: “To Jimmie, From Mother, Dec. 25, 1927, Standish, Missouri.” The book is A Christmas Carol. I thought about little Jimmie as I read it. But those Kindles are pretty nifty tech toys. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. It’s from a letter she wrote for Oprah’s magazine after refusing an interview. She also says “Can you imagine curling up in bed to read from a computer?” Funny how things change.
